The best piece of relationship advice I ever got was from my mother. She told me, "Predictability kills a relationship faster than a buzzard picks up road kill."

I knew a couple who every Monday night had meatloaf for dinner, Tuesday they had pasta, Wednesday they had fish, Thursday they had stew, Friday they had . . . you get the picture. They would eat the same menu week after week, year after year. How boring!

Their whole lives evolved around a schedule just like their dinner menu. Saturdays they would go grocery shopping, Sundays they would visit their families etc. The same thing week after week, year after year. Can you imagine what their sex life must have been like?

Predictability is a major reason why people break up or get divorced. They get bored with their relationships. They seek out new and exciting things to do. They seek out new and exciting people to do these things with - anything to break their same old dull routine.

In order to keep a relationship alive you need to use a little bit of imagination. Be a little naughty if you want to. Play hooky together from work and go to an afternoon movie or just stay at home in bed and make love for hours.

Seek out a local artist and have them do a nude painting of you. Give that painting to your partner on their birthday.

Role play - have your partner meet you at a bar. Pretend that you are strangers to each other. Flirt with each other and have him try to pick you up. Or better yet pretend you are having an affair with your partner. Call your partner at work and tell him you have rented a room at a hotel near by. Tell them that you only have thirty minutes before you have to get home or somebody may suspect something.

There are many different things you can do to liven up your relationship and make it seem new and exciting. The only limit is your imagination.
