Guitar Playing Basics

When I was a teenager in high school I wanted to learn guitar playing basics so I could start my own garage band. I didn't want to know a lot of technical stuff. I just wanted to learn how to play the guitar fast.

I came across this old guy that was only known by one name and that name was - Zeus. I don't know why they called him that but I do know that he knew a lot about guitars and he was willing to teach me guitar playing basics. His apartment was filled with old albums of Jimmy Hendrix, early Eric Clapton stuff, The Who and Led Zeppelin and they were all albums. He didn't have a single CD.

I learned to play the guitar fast and after I had learned guitar playing basics I started my own band. But we didn't have a lead guitar player. So once again I went back to Zeus for basic lead guitar instruction and before I knew it I had learned that fast too.

After my band had rehearsed for about 3 months we managed to get a gig at a local bar but we didn't have a name for the band yet. As we had 3 guitars in the band and we all loved guitars and had spent the last number of months learning guitar notes we decided to call ourselves - The Guitar Notes.

The night of our first gig was a blast. On stage we all acted like our favorite rock stars and we danced and played our hearts out as long as they would let us. And to tell you the truth - we were absolutely horrible. All we knew were guitar playing basics. We could barely keep a beat going. But we had a great time living out a rock and roll fantasy.

We never played another gig after that and we soon split up and went our separate ways. And even today, though I still like to play the guitar every now and then, I still only know guitar playing basics.
