Guitar Playing for Beginners

I just took my first guitar lesson today and it was awesome! I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar and hoped one day to start my very own garage band. Ever since I can remember music has always been the most important thing in my life. I always have my MP3 player with me and I am always listening to music.

But let me get back to my guitar lessons. One day I was walking home from school and taped to a lamp pole was a flyer that read - Guitar Playing for Beginners Course - and below that were a bunch of tags with a phone number on them. I ripped off one of the tags and brought it home to my mother and begged her to let me take guitar lessons.

My Mom called the number and talked to the person who was offering the guitar playing for beginners course and they had a long conversation. The upshot of that was that I got to take guitar lessons.

That night my Mom and me went to the mall and bought a basic acoustic guitar that I could practice on. I wanted to buy an electric guitar and amp and speakers but my Mom wouldn't hear of it. She wanted to see if I would stick with my guitar lessons before she would invest a lot of money in it. I didn't fight her on it. I was just happy she had signed me up for the guitar playing for beginners course.

So today was the day. After school my Mom took me to this house that was just around the corner from where we live. On the porch was a sign that read - Guitar Playing for Beginners Course - and inside the house was the teacher. He was a man named Mr. Davis and after my Mom talked to him for a bit we got down to business.

Mr. Davis wanted to make sure I wasn't intimidated by learning the guitar so he spent the first lesson teaching me a simple 4 chord song I could play. Using only the chords G, C, D and E minus he taught me this great old Bob Marley song called - No Woman No Cry. It only took me about an hour to learn it and I've never played the guitar before.

After the lesson I went home and I've been playing that song all night long.

I can't wait for my second lesson in the Guitar Playing for Beginners Course.
