Perhaps the most memorable day in your life is the day when you ask somebody to marry you. And to many it is also the most romantic day of their lives.

Miriam, will you marry me?

I remember reading awhile ago that Paris Hilton received so many letters of proposal from men in prison that she had to hire a team to handle all the requests. She even received some rings.

Before popping the question make sure you have talked about marriage or the possibility of marriage. This should include issues such as if your future spouse wants children or not, what are their ambitions in life and other important questions.

There are many different ways of popping the question but here are the basics.

1. Find a special spot to ask the question. It could be a romantic spot that has a special meaning for both of you.

2. Make it a surprise. Catch her when she is not expecting it.

3. Make it romantic. Drop to one knee and ask her to marry you. There is something very gallant about this scenario.

These are just the basics. There are many more ideas and possibilities. All you have to do is use your imagination. And don't expect her to say yes right away. This is a life changing question and the person may need a little time to think it over.

Asking somebody to marry you should be romantic. Make it special and do it right.
