Improving Bowling Game

By Charley Warwick

When I first started to bowl I learned how to do it like most people - I went to the bowling alley with my buddies and we rolled a few games. I didn't know anything at all about bowling except that the whole idea was to knock down the pins.

The more I played the game the more I enjoyed the game. It got to the point where I was going to the bowling alley 3 or 4 times a week. I was getting better at it but very rarely could I break 200.

By nature I am a very competitive guy and of course I joined a bowling league. I wanted to compete with the best bowlers in my city. That's when I began looking for ways of improving my bowling game. I started reading books about bowling and when ever I came across a bowler that was better than me I would study his bowling techniques.

Still my quest at improving my bowling game wasn't going that well. As I said I rarely broke 200 and that was my goal. By this time I was at the bowling alley almost every day practicing and though I was getting better my game was inconsistent. I knew my technique was not quite there.

Then one of the old time bowlers named Chuck took me aside. He told me that the problem with my game was that I had learned it all wrong. He told me I was a decent bowler but I would never get to the next level if I didn't relearn the game of bowling.

Well, my goal was improving my bowling game so I asked Chuck what I should do. Chuck laughed and told me that I was in luck. He passed me a manuscript that he was working on called 'How to Bowl Strikes: Winning Tips, Techniques, Tools and Strategies'.

I went home that night and read the report from cover to cover and I can tell you it opened my eyes about bowling. I had never seen such a comprehensive and easy to understand manual on bowling.

Ever since then my game has improved tremendously. I am now consistently bowling 200 + and I don't mind saying I am perhaps the best bowler in my league. If you are looking at improving your bowling game you may want to try it out.
