If you have a wedding toast or speech in the near future it is best to start writing it and practicing it as soon as possible. The better you know your material the less nervous you will be. The best advice I have ever received was "take action and do it now".

Sit down with pen in hand and plan out your speech. Make sure there is a beginning, middle and an end. You want to say something memorable as this is a very special day for the bride and groom. Write your speech or toast around a pertinent incident in their life. Make it warm and affectionate.

If you do not feel comfortable writing your own speech or toast have a friend or relative assist you. And if that doesn't work purchase a prewritten speech or toast and modify it to accommodate the bride and groom.

A toast is much easier and shorter than a speech. The briefer the better. Once again, the toast, just like a wedding speech should be warm and affectionate though humor can be used just before the toast. If you are unsure what to say you can always purchase a prewritten wedding toast and modify it to accommodate the bride and groom.

A good quotation is also nice in a wedding toast or wedding speech. You can find these quotations all over the net or in your local book store or library. One of my favorite wedding day quotes is:

Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.
~ Aristotle

Remember to practice your wedding toast speech. Practice and practice again. The better you know your material the less nervous you will be.

And don't forget to smile.
