Music - get a DJ instead of a band.

Alcohol - make sure you have a friend acting as bartender. Letting guests serve themselves will cause a big mess and a lot of waste. Buy your alcohol and sodas when they're on sale. (Or just have beer, wine and soda)

Wedding Dresses - there are plenty of discount wedding dresses around. You can even shop on net and save a bundle. All you would have to do is have it altered. And if you only have one maid of honor this would also cut down on expenses.

Wedding cake - Go to a discount bakery or a supermarket with a bakery. If you go the discount bakery route purchase a small cake beforehand to taste to make sure it is up to par.

There are plenty of ways you can have a wedding for less. The most import part is in the planning. A well planned out wedding will save you a lot of money.
